Incident allegedly involving part-time instructor on transit system

We are aware of reports regarding an incident on the TTC allegedly involving a part-time instructor at the University. York is taking steps to investigate the matter and continues to liaise with Toronto Police Service.

In the interim, the instructor will not be attending on campus and the University has made arrangements for the courses to continue as scheduled with replacement instructors and this has been communicated to registered students. We take allegations of sexual violence very seriously and such allegations will be addressed through the procedures associated with our policy.

Students in need of support are encouraged to utilize University services, including:

  • The Student Counselling & Development office offers personal counselling services to all York students. Visit them in Room N110, Bennett Centre for Student Services, call 416-736-5297, or visit http://counselling.students.yorku.ca/ for more information.
  • The Centre for Sexual Violence Response, Support & Education at 416-736-5211 (24/7) is the recommended first point of contact for students, staff and faculty. The Centre is also available to receive formal complaints and will work with any member of the community to outline complaint processes, academic/workplace accommodations, supports and resources available.
